Location – Our Beach

Well we don’t think so! The salty sea air and the crashing waves help to soothe mind and soul, leaving students feeling relaxed, calm and at ease.

Since the 1960s, the beach has been the spiritual home of surfing in Newquay and remains a surfing hotspot for local surfers today so pupils will be in the best location to learn to ride the waves and so much more!

Beach Facilities

The beach has toilet and changing facilities (free for First Wave Adventures customers). There is a take-away kiosk, recycling unit, beach cleaning facilities and an onsite café. All water and beach based activities are carried out by our partner company Newquay Surfing School . All activities include equipment that has been certified under the RNlI’s surf safety scheme.

Newquay Surfing School is an AALA license holder. As a privately managed beach, beach cleanliness is second to none.  And with water conditions rated Excellent.

Based on the North Cornish coast, Newquay has become firmly established as one the UK’s leading resorts for adventure-led holidays and activity breaks. Recognised as the UK’s surfing capital, Newquay also offers a whole plethora of water-based activities.

With miles of soft golden sands, a mild climate, and fantastic entertainment options, Newquay is simply an excellent choice for a school trip.

First Wave Adventures Activity Centre is based at Great Western Beach in Newquay. As one of Newquay’s most central beaches and with its natural cove-like setting, it’s the perfect base for an activity centre.

In regard to the First Wave Adventures accommodation, we offer a similarly perfect location.

Location is perhaps never so important when travelling with dozens of excited school children! We understand that being stuck in the middle of nowhere with several coach journeys a day is no fun for anyone. Our accommodation is all located in fantastically convenient location, never far from the fun of the beach.

Our timetables are built on teacher feedback, with the need to limit transport a major consideration. As much as possible, we try to ensure once your coach is parked in Newquay, it won’t move again until you leave!
